Under the influence of abstraction.
The figure, explored through a surreal/cubist sentiment is twisted and stylised, it engages in a continuing dialogue with the ominous echoes and liberating streams of consciousness until it almost becomes a graphic illustration of its component parts. Flat areas of colour contrast with areas of shading but as a whole generate an image that is three dimensional in appearance; you could imagine walking round it. The floor and walls compete against each other to further unsettle the eye, while the prevailing darkness through the doorway asks another intimate question. A separate armature over the figure provides another layer that works in tandem with the shadows to become a separate structural element to a multi-layered dialogue with an innate sense of composition and rhythm, formality and chromatically as well as on a psychological plane, enticing the viewer to their own place of enlightenment.
